No, it's not required.  Although having a drum set at home can help you learn, I've been able to learn and improve without a drum set.  We will cover some ways to practice without a drum set in the lessons.  If you would like to invest in a drum set, I can recommend some to you.

Around 4-6, however there may be more or less.  Regardless of how many, each student will have their own acoustic or practice pad drum set to play on during the entire lesson.

For Beginners we will cover basics and get you able to play some songs.

For Intermediate drummers, we will go deeper into the most common grooves and fills and and apply them to songs.

For any level, there are also some special activities that can be done better as a group.
